I Tried Timeleft Again… Here’s What Happened

I pulled up first because strategically being in the middle makes it easier to stay involved.
I’m already not the hugest fan of dinners so this is me breaking out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I arrived at Ibaricos in Montreal on September 11th to meet up with my posse of Timelefters. It turned out we would not be having dinner for 6, it would instead be dinner for 8.
Everyone arrived and we went through introductions. Several of us were talkers and it started out with a strong vibe. So far my second time went pretty good, and this time there was only strangers at the table.
I was out until after midnight because the vibe was so proper.
Ibaricos offers paella to share which worked out great
Last time I was in the Sud Ouest and this time chose to try the Plateau.
Finding a conveniently located parking spot I bit the bullet and paid my fee. The rabbit and chicken rice concoction was so good. At first I was kind of skeptical but the experience of sharing it all from the giant bowl was added value.
I also had this incredible cocktail, the agua de valencia and I would big time recommend it.
The last place kept us there until like 10:30, this time we were done eating and ready to head to the bar quite early, before 9 PM I believe.
Ibaricos gave us good service and held us down properly.
We perambulated over to Urbanista to keep the party going
A 14 minute walk later we were over by this bar Urbanista, near Rachel & St Laurent.
It’s a cutesy place that would be good for Instagram photos. I ordered another citrus based cocktail because the next lady had already ordered it and I did not regret my life choices. I think I’m really into citrus based cocktails.
For a solid hour or more no one else joined us and we had the bar to ourselves. A couple of our people took off as it got later. Then within 15 minutes another 30 people were in the room. The Timeleft dinners had let out and the people were now here.
The tables merged and we started meeting folk and trading stories about how our nights went.
Seven out of the eight of us went to the bar. One lady had been to 5 other dinners and chosen not to go to the bar, until our group came together. It was proper.
Not everyone’s nights were so good.
Not every experience is going to be so perfect
We met this next girl, who is connected to someone I performed with recently, who had a much worse experience.
The city is too small.
Anyway, at her English speaking table was a person mad she didn’t speak french. This person bullied her and made her feel like doo doo. Now she has no interest in future Timeleft.
It’s a shame.
It’s also worth noting that one of the people at our table picked French and ended up at our very English table. Her night was less amazing, but she was a trooper and stuck it out with us until the end.
It’s a lottery and you never know who you will meet.
But so far I’ve had two wonderful experiences meeting people who also prefer using an app to meet new people.
Reminds me of 2013.
Live Long and Prosper Everyone
